[ She doesn't mean to be...! Tbh she's probably the least #mysterious of all of ALASTAIR's recruits, which is ironic. ]
I will go to the castle and seek an audience with the King. [ Considering the old man's holed up at present......well. Riza's free to figure things out. ] I want you at my back.
From what she's gleaned about Kida - and the royalty here as well - a large part of her surmises that this audience won't be entirely peaceful. It doesn't exactly please her that they're resorting to such means, but there's few options left to them now.
Best she can do is make sure they're all prepared.]
[ Kida's not planning on resorting to force if she can help it--she's seen enough of it already. Riza, unfortunately, has no way of knowing that for now.
But she also knows her own nature--and she has a tendency to be hotheaded. Riza's been a pacifying influence before, and as a result Kida trusts her instincts. Goodness knows there's no one else she'd rather have on her right. Pearl is too high-strung and Loki...well. He's himself, and better suited elsewhere. ]
I will call upon the others--we will require a vanguard to distract the guardsmen, and those better at infiltration than I to penetrate the building and discover what we can.
[ She's actually been stewing on this a while. She knows she's still not 100% familiar with all the subtleties of surface-world society, but in Atlantis, if you wanted to know something, anything--the King would know. She doesn't know if that'll hold true here, but it's worth a try.
Anything is better than this endless waiting for answers that won't come. ]
[Some measure of relief eases its way back into her shoulders at the evident thought that's always found its way into Kida's plan. Likely there's still some way to go before they nail down a good plan of attack (or infiltration, in this particular case) but she'll be able to focus better on the task presented to her.
And hopefully the more answers they can glean without (literally) losing their heads. As much as she's used to waiting for the next set of instructions, she has to admit that ALASTAIR's not ranking so hot on her list of competent commanding officers.]
Of course. Have you made a list already or will you need help finding people with the right skills?
[She's still got that database of names at her disposal, the one she's been saving for a situation like this one.]
I will need names, if you can provide them, in both cases. I will also do my own searching. I have no desire to leave us in danger for lack of numbers.
[ She couldn't read when Riza had put that post up--she still can't read, but thanks to Korra's help she's now begun decoding letters. It's slow going, since she doesn't have much leisure time or material to study with, but she's improving.
Point is, at that time, the post had sailed clear overhead. ]
I have seen Loki's shape-changing firsthand, and his skill with spells. Pearl is a practised fighter, I would like her to guard the king's door to prevent us being interrupted. Aside from them...
[—Shapechanging, huh? That little tidbit is new to her, thanks Loki. Whatever reservations she might have about the capricious black-haired man go unspoken for the moment; she can't deny that shapechanging and magic both would be useful for this particular mission.
Speaking of magic:]
There are several here who are well-versed in the art of magic and several who are practiced fighters like Pearl. However, I haven't seen any of their skills firsthand.
[Except for Gilgamesh, but no one likes Gil.]
I have a small database of skillsets that I can send your way. It might be useful in assembling the proper force.
[She doesn't know Kida's still working on the art of literacy yet, oops.]
[Reflexively Riza nods, even though Kida can't see it.]
Of sorts. I have a few papers with notes regarding the different skills everyone here possesses. Loki offered to enchant it so that it would remain unreadable should it fall into the wrong hands, but I can read the information on it aloud to you.
[ Kida debates for a moment saying she couldn't accept such documents by virtue of being unable to read them--but Riza offers her an out without her having to ask for it.
It's a bit cowardly, but for now, she elects to just leave it be. ]
That would be helpful! If you have personal recommendations, I will take those as well.
